Under new management

So they have done another reorganization here at Deutsche Bank so my position have changed and I am not sure what my responsibilities are yet. Hopefully I will get to do something else than just cost cutting and looking at expenses.

My knee is getting better and I hope that surgery was successful since I hope to be able to go on my inline skates this summer so I can regain my strength and muscles in my legs.

Getting Better

Yep I shave my knees, a picture 5 days after surgery. Posted by Hello
You can see the writing the doc did on my knee to make sure he opened the right one.
Ice and elevation have been key words in my recovery and of course a number of pills that make you feel a little better and as some kind of pill popper. Apparently there is some resale value on the type of pills I got but I am keeping them all for myself :oP

Knee Surgery

I messed up my knee so I needed some surgery Posted by Hello
The worst thing I can not come up with some cool story of why I messed up my knee. Sad but true, I think I tore my meniscus running for the subway. So I guess sitting at a desk all day do not strengthen my legs much.

My place is getting there

Almost done just missing some furniture, plants, and pictures as you can see the the TV is on the floor Posted by Hello

Wassup

Just starting my blog I will post at least a couple of times a month so stay tuned.

Ok a little about what have been going on the last year or so.

In July 2004 I accepted a job at Deutsche Bank as the Business Manager for Equity Cash, Program, Equity Prop Trading IT. At that point it looked a like a smart thing to do since things in Goldman Sachs was not as interesting anymore.
Since I was leaving I made sure to take out some vacation so Gina and I went to Norway. Started out in Bergen we were there for a couple of really nice days before taking the ferry in Sogne Fjorden and then the train to Oslo, if you are into seeing beautiful nature that is the trip to take. In Oslo we made sure to go to the Munch museum and that was smart since three weeks later the most famous painting was stolen. I have tons of pictures but I will not bore you with that if you want to see them follow this link ( ). I also included some pictures from hitting the town in Oslo. I t was great with a trip home and I am going home again this summer for my cousin’s wedding the last weekend of July when I get back I will take off on a weekend bachelor party, should be fun.
In early October Gina and I went on a trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley I liked the Bay Area it is tons of things to do there and if you don’t have anything better to do on a weekend you can go to Napa and the wineries for wine tasting. We saw and did more than most in a weekend so it was almost good to get back home to New York the 104 degree temperature might have had something to do with it too. I took a bunch of pictures there to but I have not put those up anywhere yet (I know I am pretty slow).
My parents came in November and got to experience the coldest November in 20 years. I drag them to a Broadway show, the Producers, and showed them my apartment here in Astoria, Queens. Mostly they were doing stuff on their own as I was at a work during the day. We had some good times and some good dinners while they were here.
Xmas I spent in Westchester with Gina’s family and then on New Years we went to B bar to celebrate the New Year it was pretty fun and for once there was no drama around any of the people Gina and I was there with, rare to be new years.
This year has been pretty uneventful since I have not taken much time off. The only trip I have gone on was to see my best buddy Big G in Reno. We went skiing together and the slopes were just amazing unfortunately the big man was not feeling to well after a hardcore guy’s night out on Saturday I had to go alone on Sunday but it was great skiing anyway. It sucked to leave both because of the skiing and my best buddy.
The last few months not much have been happening here in New York other than bad weather, work, and the occasional trip out. I should probably mention that Gina and I are currently on a break but we remain good friends.

Work
My new job started out fine and I came in the start of the budget season so it was pretty simple stuff since I have done large budgets before. Then in December we were asked to find some extra “under performing” personnel that we could do without in the next year. Since we had planned to increase our budget this was not good. We later received our budget target that was significantly lower than what we had expected so the list grew rapidly with people that would no longer have a job at Deutsche Bank. Not the most fun I have had at work since I had to calculate how many more we had to take out in order to reach our savings goal. We are still watching things closely to make sure that we will reach our yearend target. The work have not been as interesting as I had hoped when I started out there much because of layoffs and restructuring. I am sure this is needed however I am not sure it will accomplish what they want. My current manager is also leaving so this will be interesting, or not.
